Welcome to the Boston Pilonidal Center

Advances in pilonidal surgery have made care safer and better over the last 20 years.. Since 2001, Dr. Michael Reinhorn and his team have specialized in several diseases in order to provide patients with the highest quality care.By focusing on only a few diseases, we are able to create a high volume, high quality clinic for patients with Pilonidal.

There are many different presentations for pilonidal disease and many different treatment options.  Patients can present with a simple pilonidal cyst, a painful pilonidal abscess, a draining pilonidal sinus or a combination of any of the above.  While most patients can avoid the need for pilonidal surgery, a specialist is best qualified to guide patients on care for their disease. This site was created to simplify the process of learning about the pilonidal treatment options, including medical treatment and the cleft lift procedure. Dr. Reinhorn has been performing the cleft lift (Developed by Dr. Bascom) procedure since 2006. The cleft lift, or Bascom flap, is the procedure with the highest cure rate and best long term outcomes for pilonidal disease. Please click the links above to learn more about pilonidal disease and the various treatment options.
